In March 2010 CERN introduced a policy to set out the principles forming the basis for the management of IP in technology transfer activities.

The Policy sets out the definitions of the terms used and the general founding principles of the policy and then describes the more detailed principles for:

• Ownership and protection of IP created in the framework of CERN’s scientific program;
• Technology Transfer through partnerships with other institutes and/or industry;
• Technology Transfer through exploitation.

The document finally presents an incentive scheme and considers principles related to the reporting and approval of technology transfer activities and the associated IP management.
