FastIC Read-out chips for High-energy Physics and Medical Technologies

FASTIC

The NINO ASIC (implemented in 250nm CMOS) is a chip for the read-out of fast radiation detectors (SiPMs, MCPs); it is widely used in high-energy physics and in other fields of science. This project aims to develop a dsign upgrade in a deeper sub-micron technology (65nm CMOS), by increasing its number of channels, and improving its time resolution. Its specifications arose from the technical requirements of potential users. The chip has potential applications in medical and biomedical fields, e.g. for Time-of-Flight Positron Emission Tomography (PET) or fluorescence detection in biological samples.
